Annual Sponsorship Program
The McShin Foundation
With the generous support of its event sponsors, the McShin Foundation is able to schedule community events, including several signature fundraising events, throughout the year to support indigent programs and individuals in need of financial assistance. Annual events with sponsorship opportunities available are listed below.
Annual Recovery Fest
Every September, we celebrate National Recovery Month with The McShin Foundation’s Annual Recovery Fest & KCBS BBQ Cook Off**. This is McShin’s largest event. 2,000-3,000 attendees join policymakers, 20-30 Non-Profit organizations, 25+ Vendors, musicians and recovery supporters in this day-long celebration. McShin earned SAMHSA's National Recovery Month Award in the Special Celebrations category in 2012, 2013, and 2017.
**This year, September 2020, the BBQ Cook Off portion of Recovery Fest will not be held in order to comply with COVID-19 best practices. Look for the competition to renew September 2021.

Nationwide Correctional Facility Tour
McShin’s President and Co-Founder, John Shinholser, has embarked on a Nationwide Correctional Facility Tour – traveling around The United States speaking in jails and prisons about recovery and the importance of successful reintegration into society. In addition to this tour, McShin staff appear at trainings, conferences and speaking engagements nationwide throughout the year.
Thanks to our contributors and event sponsors, McShin is able to provide over $195,000 of charity care annually. In 2018, there were over 1,696 indigent bed nights given away along with over 6,000 free meals.
